Zero Gravity at the CNE
Zero Gravity ride at the Canadian National Exhibition. This is another old video that I never got around to uploading, this time from 2 years ago! This is an old ride that is often called a Round-up. It looks like it's been considerably refurbished, and is quite a nice example. The ride has also been at the fair last year and this year, but the CNE never lists it among the rides on their website. I think it's been brought in to replace another ride that was advertised, but didn't make it. This year, the CNE advertised the Bonsai and the Quasar would be coming, but they are missing. I really miss the Bonsai, hope it comes back next year. The other missing ride was replaced by a second bump...

I go to the Canadian National Exhibition every year, but I've never been on the free train that can take you from one end to the other. It's mainly used by older people. Maybe I'm getting old? After years of absence (maybe close to a decade?), the Bingo tent reappeared this year at the Canadian National Exhibition. They need to bring back the big sign with flashing lights, as it's very easy to miss it!

Electronic sign tells drivers their speed. Have you seen a sign like this in your city? Have you seen more than one of them? Are they effective or useful? This is the first one I've ever seen, and I know nothing about them. This sign is in KPH, not MPH!
CNE Toronto turbine

The mighty Toronto wind turbine, which was not turning when I took these pictures. You have to be up close to see how big this really is, though I think it's smaller than the average turbine today. You can tell I'm getting to the end of my videos taken at the CNE! The grounds have several fountains, but only the first, the Princess Margaret, is in a prominent place. The CNE Bandshell was built in the 1930s, and is actually quite large. Here we see an alleged rock group making no secret they are having trouble getting their backing tracks to work. Eli Bridge Co makes a few different ride products; their main wheel lineup is called "Big Eli." The model is Hy-5 II. The "8" is not an 8 - it's an illustration of the Hy-5II's rim-drive system - look close - it's two small wheels spinning the rim of a section of big wheel. It was one of the first wheels to use a rim drive instead of a cable drive. As for the website, it sounds like they were originally planning/expecting an Eli Big Eagle 16.

Back in the 70s there was no restraint! We would fall against the door. The worst ride for us. Now they have the restraints.

I still remember the zipper with the kids and I thought that freaking little thing would come out in the door pop open so I would hang on to you or something towards the end I started hanging on to the top of the cage and I wasn't quite as scared anymore if the door was to pop open where I was hoping to pop them but at least they had a key that kept the door closed in the cage nice ride I do miss having the zipper at the fair

I used to love going through that attraction at the Washington country fair in Wisconsin. I live in dodge county but when I was in 4-H we would always go to the Washington country fair grounds
